Zero Campaign

zero.0My campaign is simple. It’s a suggestion. The laziness of people really astounds me. I can understand how something as simple as the art of using words has become abated in this day and age. Why not? With a McDonalds and a Dunkin Donuts on every corner, serving us through drive-thrus, why would we have any ambition to take initiative and go an extra mile. “Hey this fast-food place doesn’t have a drive-thru window! What nerve!! Let’s drive to the next one, I’m not walking in!” We have become spoiled. Sure, I like things to be simple and easy. Does that mean that our intelligence has to be sacrificed for convenience? Let me get on with my point. We have already sunk too deep in to the butchering of the English language, so I won’t suggest trying to bandage that wound. What I am suggesting is one simple and small change. Zero! Yes, zero. It is a number, yet for some reason it has been replaced. How did we let a letter take the place of a number? Zero (0) has been replaced with O (pronounced oh). Most of us are guilty of doing this. I suggest that we bring zero back. Is it really that difficult? When you buy something at the store the clerk will tell you that your total is $10.04 (ten O four). Why not say Ten dollars and four cents? It is easy and makes you sound more intelligent. ZERO!! Let’s bring zero back. Something simple that we can all do in a world of ebonics and acronyms. Sure, the English language has had a monumental shift but why should we allow letters to take the place of numbers? Whats next, 8 will be G? No, I say fuck that! Bring back the number zero. Who’s with me?

MEND

Who Made Your Bag?

This question is for men and women that use any kind of bag. In general we don’t know or care where our clothing came from. We have become conditioned not to ask. As long as we are getting inexpensive products that look good it doesn’t even cross our minds that people are being exploited in order for you to look good. INVISIBLE CHILDREN and MEND are working together to allow the makers of MEND bags to be recognized. These are women that live in the poorest parts of the world. Each bag will have the bag makers name on it and a website where you will be able to see a profile of the bag maker. INVISIBLE CHILDREN is once again taking steps to help.

One Percent

rich_and_poor

Only one percent of the population of America holds the money. The millionaires and billionaires and rich corporate pigs. They have more money than you or I could spend in a lifetime. I strive to take that one percent. I will one day earn that money. I will win lotto or become a great inventor. I will enter the elite status and I will give. I will give to charities and suppoprt groups. I will give to research and free clinics. I will give to the poor. I will give and give and give again. Only one percent of Americans are elite because they keep the money in their own fat filthy pockets. I am no better than a homeless person living behind that supermarket. Why should I eat well while he digs for his dinner in a dumpster?

Update

Hi. Many of you may be wondering where my writing has gone. Me too! I have not had much inspiration as of late. My wheels are turning and I have some ideas but they need to formulate into something worth posting. I hope everyone is well. I recently visited New York City for a day and I had a blast with my friend Hiro. We met up with my wife Ute, at Sony Music. We got the tour, it was nice. Hiro was interested in seeing Ground Zero and Wall street and I was happy to show him the sights. We also went up to Boston this weekend. It was a beautiful day. Hiro was nice enough to drive us up there. We saw Harvard and went to Quincey Market. We also saw the new park that was created due to the failure of the “big dig”. Boston and Cambridge are very beautiful. I would recommend either New York or Boston as a nice day trip to anyone that is visiting the New England area. Other than that there is not much going on in my little world. We are getting ready to move…across the hall. I would also like to take this time to dedicate my thoughts to the talented media figures that have expired over the past couple of days and weeks. First I would like to say that I have all positive things to say about Michael Jackson. He was a talented artist. He not only came up with great songs but his dance and style were creative and inspirational. He will be missed. I would like to also say that Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett will also be missed by millions. Today I read that Billy Mays (oxy clean commercials/ Pitchmen) passed away after being struck in the head during a bumpy flight landing. He was found dead in his home, the incident is suspected to be the cause of death.

Come back soon…hopefully I will have gained more inspiration to write.

How it Ends

The Rescue was an amazing event which led to a lot of important media figures and politicians to step up and raise awareness. The culmination of The Rescue event was when Chicago was rescued by Oprah Winfrey on national television. What is next? How does it end? DC Lobby Days is next my friends. June 22nd & 23rd, The Invisible Children and many other organizations will be teaming up and heading to Washington DC to try to end the longest running war in Africa. They are trying to pass a bill that would allow the United States of America and the UN to enter Uganda and The Congo and to apprehend Joseph Kony, the man who is responsible for kidnapping and killing thousands of child soldiers. How can you get involved? It’s easy. I have read your blogs and your twitter updates and your text messages and your Youtube and Myspace comments. I know you have a way of being heard. Use your voice to make a difference. Write congress and tell them you are backing this bill 100%. This bill gives hope to the child soldiers. It is possible that they can be reunited with their families. Help the children…this is How it Ends!

Child Soldiers

Thank You Oprah!!

oprah-2

Oprah rescued Chicago, the final city from Invisible Children’s “The Rescue”. She invited the IC film makers into the studio to take part in her show today.  Her show will air at 4pm (eastern). This is going to be huge. Every War has an End… and this is it! Oprah is one of the most important and influential women on television and she has the power to help save the child soldiers in Uganda. Even though we are rescued, we still have a lot of work to do. Let’s keep pushing forward. I just want to thank anyone that reads my blog and anyone who has gotten involved. It means a lot!!

Rescue Chicago!!

oprah

The Invisible Children hosted a worldwide event on April 25th, called The Rescue. The point of the rescue was to abduct yourself  at a specified site in one of the 100 cities and wait until a media mogul or influential politician came and rescued your city. Most of the cities around the world were rescued within the first day. The remaining cities were rescued the following day…except one! Chicago has been going strong now for 6 days and 39 minutes. The Invisible Children Rescue Riders have joined the Chicago LRA camp site in order to support them. The final list of media moguls was presented. The list includes Oprah, Barack & Michelle Obama and Bono. The Invisible Children used their creative ability and came up with a way to get noticed. The abducted people of Chicago joined the Rescue Riders and the IC staff and began choreographing a dance. They changed the lyrics to “Pride”  a U2 song in order to get the attention of Bono. They also did it to get the attention of Oprah. The lyrics say “Oprah come and rescue us…” Please do what you can to support Chicago. The Rescue event is not over until every city has been rescued. “Where you live should not determine whether you live!!” Please help. I am doing everything I can to raise awareness through my blog because I believe that my life is no more important than the lives of these children.

Look at the amount of people that are tirelessly showing support for this cause. I would like to commend them. I honestly hope that Chicago is rescued soon so that we may rescue the children in Africa. Lets bring them home!
